Serie animata basata sul personaggio creato da Fran Striker per uno show radiofonico americano del 1933, che ha ispirato anche un celebre fumetto nel 1948, un telefilm di successo negli anni '50 ed uno successivo negli anni '60, oltre ad alcune produzioni rimaste inedite in Italia.

Accompagnato dall'inseparabile amico indiano di nome Tonto, il ranger solitario, in sella al fedele destriero Silver, vagabonda per i deserti e le sconfinate praterie del Selvaggio West imbattendosi in avventure in stile horror, fantascienza e western, cercando di riportando la giustizia grazie agli infallibili proiettili d'argento della sua pistola.

La sigla è l'ouverture del Guglielmo Tell, un opera lirica di Gioacchino Rossini.
