Il regno africano di Bongo Congo è rinomato per i suoi famosi tamburi ed è governato da un leone chiamato re Leonardo. Il suo primo ministro e consigliere di fiducia è la puzzola Odie Cologne, la quale agisce in maniera provvidenziale quando bisogna tenere il sovrano lontano dai guai, spesso causati da Itchy, il fratello di re Leonardo: quest'ultimo, non particolarmente sveglio, prende ordini dal malvagio Biggie Rat, che intende sfruttare la somiglianza di Itchy col sovrano per farlo salire al trono all'insaputa di tutti e, tramite lui, prendere il controllo del regno.

In questo show erano presenti anche tre miniserie - Il Cacciatore, Tooter la tartaruga e Twinkles - anch'esse trasmesse in Italia.
