Partendo da un quartier generale sottomarino condotto dal dottor Mariner con l'aiuto del Professor Fumble, a bordo della navicella P1, Marine Boy - figlio del dottor Mariner - ed i suoi due fidi compagni, il magro Piper ed il grasso Bolton, si occupano di salvaguardare gli oceani del mondo dalle minacce ambientali (spesso provocate dagli esseri umani) assieme ad un simpatico delfino di nome Splasher ed alla sirena Neptina. L'arma principale di Marine Boy è un boomerang che lancia attraverso l'acqua con la mano sinistra. Lui può stare a lungo immerso nell'acqua masticando una sostanza chiamata oxygum, che è stata inventata dal dottor Mariner.

Nella versione italiana, il protagonista è stato chiamato Marino.

Questo cartone animato è il remake di un'omonima serie prodotta tra il 1965 ed il 1966, che è rimasta inedita in Italia.

E' stato realizzato anche un film su questo personaggio (Marine Boy), che però non ha alcun legame con questa serie.
