Il protagonista è Rotten Ralph (traducibile letteralmente come "Ralph il marcio"), che viene presentato come un "gatto molto molto brutto e dal pelo rosso", il quale è una costante fonte di guai per la famiglia umana presso cui vive ed in particolare per la piccola Sarah, la quale, nonostante tutto, continua a volergli un gran bene.
