Hong Kong, XX secolo.

Nel palazzo in cui abita un bizzarro magistrato cinese, vivono dei gatti siamesi che sono in grado di scrivere utilizzando le loro code: sfruttando la loro abilità, essi si occupano di redigere atti giudiziari, trascrivendo su supporti cartacei le parole del loro padrone (sempre assai illogiche e fonte di leggi assurde). Tra essi, vi è Sagwa Miao, una micina tanto intelligente quanto curiosa; il suo pelo, che in origine era completamente bianco, presenta delle zone di colore più scuro causate dalla caduta dentro un calamaio mentre manifestava la sua ferma opposizione ad una legge folle che il magistrato si accingeva ad emanare. Assieme a suo fratello Dongwa, sua sorella Sheewa, ai gatti che vivono nel vicino villaggio - che vivono in condizioni disagiate - ed al pipistrello Fu-Fu, Sagwa si diverte ogni giorno a vivere molte divertenti avventure, in cui ha l'opportunità di imparare ogni volta qualcosa di nuovo.

Questa serie, realizzata in CGI e tratta dall'omonimo libro di Amy Tan, oltre ad avere intenti prettamente educativi, presenta ai telespettatori molti aspetti della cultura cinese.
