Terra, anno 2065.
Per pattugliare e difendere i mari di tutto il mondo da ogni possibile insidia, nella città di Marinsville è stato costruito lo Stingray, un sottomarino ipertecnologico al servizio della W.A.S.P. (World Aquanaut Security Patrol, cioè pattuglia acquatica mondiale di sicurezza), i cui membri sono il capitano Troy Tempest, il comandante Sam Shore, il tenente Atlanta Shore, il tenente Fisher, il tenente George Lee Sheridan e la loro mascotte Titano, che è un cucciolo di foca.

Il termine "Stingray", traducibile in italiano come pastinaca, è dovuto alla somiglianza del sottomarino con questo tipo di pesce.

Questa serie, realizzata in supermarionation, è stata ideata da Gerry Anderson, noto soprattutto come creatore di Thunderbirds. 

La sigla utilizzata per questa serie è Jo Superboy, la stessa di Thunderbirds e Joe 90.
