Benny e Ralph - Buttons e Rusty, nella versione originale - sono, rispettivamente, un orsetto ed una piccola volpe: entrambi sono parecchio allegri, curiosi ed anche combinaguai.
Essi vivono nel parco di Chucklewood, affidato alla sorveglianza del ranger Jones.

I personaggi di questa serie sono stati creati da Bill Hutten e Tony Love, autori anche di James Bond Junior e Dink il piccolo dinosauro.

Esistono anche degli special televisivi antecedenti a questa serie (che compongono insieme una serie nota come "Chucklewood Critters" o "Buttons & Rusty"), rimasti inediti in Italia.
